Our day out at the Thursford Collection

We went to the Thursford collection on bank holiday Monday. If you live in Norfolk there’s a good chance you’ve heard of ‘Thursford’ in relation to Christmas, even Prince George has been there! But I’ve never been to the steam engine collection. So when hubby suggested we go there I didn’t know what to expect.

I was really surprised it was perfect for a family day out especially if your children love machinery, it’s set in beautiful grounds and as well as the many steam engines there are:

Two beautiful old fairground rides you can pay to ride (£2).

The Wurlitzer show ( now unfortunately we missed this because we took to long eating lunch 🙈 but we caught the end of the last song and it sounded great! We will definitely time lunch better next time ! )

a lovely gift shop

a Christmas shop

a sweet shop

a lovely cafe – I would recommend the sausage rolls they were scrummy!

an ice cream parlour

There’s even a wonderful outside play area with lots and lots of picnic benches, perfect for a picnic on a sunny day.

Needless to say Samuel loved the play park, but he loved looking at the ‘cho chos’, well they look a bit like trains !

The only downside is that it doesn’t open til 11am and Samuel like many other little ones usually has a lunchtime nap.

I would definitely recommend it for a family day out. I thought it was great value for money- only £5.50 per adult and under 16s are FREE!
